Interview
What
do you do?
I oversee our marketing
operations, making sure the information we send out is presented
effectively.
How
did you get your job?
I started working in theTC RECORDS until the company went public. When it
went public, it needed somebody to write press releases, so I began doing that
too. It was hectic. My experience and hard work earned me this job as the
marketing manager as the company resettled.
What
are your career aspirations?
To continue in this line of work and become director of corporate
communications.
What
kinds of people do well in this business?
People who are driven, independent and hardworking. You also have to have
attention to details, especially in terms of giving presentations, writing, and
scheduling.
What
do you really like about your job?
Conveying information about our company to people who are trying to understand
it.
What
is the biggest misconception about this job?
That marketing is non-revenue producing. Usually people think that sales bring
in all the money, but marketing is a very important part of the industry.
How
can somebody get a job like yours?
You need to network with people inside and outside the company to get a job. Presenting
yourself in the right way is fundamental to getting ahead.
